Economic Geographies of Mountain Areas

Method

The study was divided into three phases. The study participants were first asked to have their professional activities recorded and documented for one week at their workplace in the urban and peripheral environment. The data was then evaluated, analyzed and explored in greater depth in interviews:

1. Digital tracking: over a period of one week each (urban and peripheral workplace), the study participants' professional activities were recorded digitally (geodata, time data, programs used on Laptop and Smartphone).

2. Space-time diary: The study participants were asked to record their work steps and the use of digital work equipment in a predefined digital space-time diary. We were interested in which work was carried out with which digital technologies in which period of time and at which location.

3. Interview & participant observation: On a selected day, the participants were visited and an approximately one-hour interview was conducted.
